08/12/2005 Ladbrokes goes tax free in Ireland

8 December 2005, London - Ladbrokes, the world's biggest bookmaker, has announced that from today it is to offer tax-free betting in all its Irish shops.

The move, which follows finance minister Brian Cowen's decision to reduce betting tax to one per cent, will apply immediately to all of Ladbrokes 150 shops in Ireland, where it is the joint-largest retail bookmaker.

Commenting on the move Ladbrokes Managing Director, Ireland, Joe Lewins said: "We are very pleased to announce that from today all our Irish customers will be able to bet tax free and enjoy better value from their betting as a result."
