Angela Bowers, 46, manager of the Ladbrokes in Childwall, Liverpool, has won the prestigious Betting Shop Manager of the Year Award for 2009, beating 85 other nominated betting shop managers.

After winning the North West / Isle of Man category earlier this month Angela today attended the final of the competition at the Carlton Tower Hotel in London - beating 7 other finalists to receive her award from former England Manager Terry Venables.

Angela was selected by a panel of 8 experts assembled by the leading industry-title the Racing Post.

Ladbrokes Retail Managing Director Richard Ames commented: "Angela enjoys looking after the customers, which is why she makes such a great job of it and why she is so popular."

Commenting on her win Angela said: "I found my niche in the betting industry and I get huge satisfaction out of making sure our customers are happy."
